Bird Book

Here are some birds that I have seen:

Birds hatch from eggs.  Here are some types of nests.

Birds have feathers.  Some feathers are for flying. Some help keep birds warm.

Most birds fly.

Some birds don’t fly.

Birds come in all colors and patterns.  Here is a favorite one of mine.

Beaks help birds eat food. Each beak is like a type of tool. Beaks are also for defense, feeding young, gathering nesting materials, building nests, preening, scratching, courting and attacking.

Here are the parts of a bird.

Alberta’s bird is the Great Horned Owl.

Some birds fly south for the winter and come back to Canada in the spring.

Dad birds are very colorful, but Mom birds have to be camouflaged to protect the eggs.
